I am a feminist – any problems?

“Stop being a feminist, and be rational”, one of my “male” friends commented on me yesterday. I being a feminist couldn’t keep a mum and said, “I can be rational, if males check their inhumane behavior with females”. The argument continued…….

Females are often accused by the males – “You are yourself responsible for the way males look at you. The way you gals dress up, provokes guys.” Sorry guys, I have something to say here – we live in a democratic country. Do we ever question the way you dress up? Do we ever say why you guys roam around in the whole city wearing just shorts and a vest? Did anyone stop Salman Khan to take off his vest in every stage show?

Sex desire is in all humans – it is God created, then why it is that there are cases of only women being raped and not men. Every month there are atleast 10 rape cases. Proof – Go to TOI site (timesofindia.com), type “rape” in the search box, click on the search button; Search result – you’ll find atleast a list of 10 rape cases.

Another comment that is generally passed by men – “Women talk of equality, of walking shoulder to shoulder with men……blah …blah…but still they want seats reserved for them in the DTC’s.” I would like to give my counter-comment here– You stop having covetous eyes on we women, we’ll stop asking for seats.

Why do you have to stand sticking close by to a woman, even though there is enough space to stand for? I know what men would want to say here. A common reply to all this, by a male would be – You cannot generalize, every male is not the same. My answer – All females are not same either.

What was the fault of the gal who has been raped yesterday by two salesmen in Palika Bazar.? Would you guys leave a single place where we gals can go safely? What was the fault of the woman raped in a hospital of Vidisha (M.P.)? Can you accuse her also, for wearing revealing clothes and provoking the bloody ward boy?

The other day there was a news about a gal being gang-raped and then the house she was in, was set to fire; Reason: Rancour. Disgusting isn’t it? If the accused had a fight with victims’ relatives, why give the punishment to her? What was her fault? No safety for women even at their own home. Where should they go to live a fearless and peaceful life? Any answers?

Does anybody still have problems with someone being a feminist?

*I mean no offences to anyone in particular.

Sadness – Isn’t it right to expression

Sadness – uhhh! Has anyone been able to escape it ever? It comes whenever and wherever it wants. For some failing in an exam might bring in sadness, losing a friend might be a reason for others. Some might not be untouched even by a major financial crisis in business while others might be succumbed. The difference lies how you deal with it, your attitude, and ofcourse the kind of friends you have – supportive or unsupportive.

I sometimes wonder how one’s sadness matters to the rest of the world. It depends on the person how he grapples with a problem….with his sadness. He might be bogged down with the problem and think that there is nothing left in life for them. Or he might take it as challenge and overcome the distress in as less as a week or a day itself.  When the world can’t solve the problem, who gives them the right to comment on how that person should deal with his sadness. We are living in a democratic country, ain’t we?  The person has full rights to take that sadness….that distress out via anger on himself, on dear ones (conditions apply), jot down his feelings in a personal diary or wirte a blog here. Objections anyone????  Please join a site with specific interest of yours then. (No offence).
